Hello, my name is Lea Caplenor and I am the owner and party specialist for Modern Play. I have accomplished many things, but my biggest accomplishment is being a mom. I have 2 brilliant, active kids: Reagan who is 8 and Reed who is 6. I am also the wife of an awesome guy named Ben. I have a Bachelors of Science degree with an emphasis in Psychology from Cumberland University and have spent the last 20 years teaching dance and tumbling in all kinds of environments, from satellite programs, to daycares to recreational studios thru competitive ones. I graduated High school from North Carolina School of the Arts, danced with Pennsylvania Ballet and Nashville Ballet. Before moving to Chattanooga I owned my own Dance Studio in Lebanon, Tennessee.
My passion is working with kids and being a positive role model ; influencing them to be healthy, active, happy and proud of their accomplishments. Believe it or not my kids helped shape this idea of having a space where they could play, learn and exercise in a safe environment. Reagan and Reed both enjoy exercising with me. I believe leading children by example to live a healthy life is so important. It is amazing how being a parent brings out your best version of yourself. But there is also guilt of spending time on yourself. How cool is it that they can learn and be active and so can you at Modern Play? Both feeling refreshed and energized! Modern Play is a place like no other!
When I am not working I love firepit nights at home, crashing my friends pool and spending time watching my kids do what they love. My door is always open. I want to partner with you and build a relationship with your child to help them prosper and grow up healthy and happy.
Hello, my name is Morgan Patterson and I am the managing director and team leader for Modern Play.
Since I was a little kid I always wanted to be a teacher, and after growing up with little sisters, I was a natural. For 6 years I have been professionally working with children, starting at a daycare and then went on to teach gymnastics, mommy and me classes and dance. For two years I lead a gymnastics special needs class and a bi weekly program for special needs children through parks and recreation.
When I’m not working I like to spend time with friends and family, traveling and doing photography, art or anything creative! I have always had a passion for teaching (and learning from) children. Working with children has taught me patience, how to be flexible, how to use my imagination and how to love unconditionally. My mission is to help every child discover their inner talents, overcome their fears, and help them be the best they can be!
Imara Young discovered her love for dance when taking dance classes for three years at Contra Costa Christian High School in Walnut Creek, California. Miss Young began choreographing and teaching hip hop around 1999. She took initiative in forming a hip-hop squad at Covenant College and kept it going from 2003-2006.
Miss Young proceeded to move to Atlanta, GA in 2007 and since then has not only been training in various styles, but has been part of different dance companies, crews, dance productions, music videos, and performed behind several Atlanta artists. Some projects included being a member of dance crew Dragon House, dance company The Purple Elephant Society, and being signed by DDO Nashville/Atlanta.
Miss Young now resides in Chattanooga, TN as an ACE certified personal trainer and plans to continue sharing her love for dance with others through performing with her crew COMMIX and teaching various dance & dance fitness classes.
Ryan Roberts was born in Oklahoma City and raised in Chattanooga, TN. Ryan found his love of Hip-Hop dance at the tender age of 9 years old and has been dancing for 14 years. To better his Hip-Hop dance skills he took several dance classes anywhere he could and loved to watch live performances from his favorite artists.
From 2013-2015 Ryan danced for a dance company called WEAVE: A Conceptual Dance Company to help shape his Hip-Hop style and learn other dance styles.
Mr. Roberts now teaches Hip-Hop at various dance studios around Chattanooga, and dances with his dance crew COMMIX. Ryan is so excited to be a part of the Modern Play family and share his love of Hip-Hop with everyone. He is humble and grateful. He loves building confidence in kids and helping them learn that movement is expression and exercise!
Hi there! My name is Melissa Gibson and I am so excited to be joining the team here at Modern Play. I was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia, but moved to Chattanooga when I was in high school. My husband Eric and I have 2 wonderful and active kids: Lilly Jane, who is 8, loves running, climbing, swimming, and gymnastics and Graham, who is 6, loves soccer, baseball, and swimming. I graduated from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville with a degree in Sociology. I currently work at local gyms and at BlueCross.
My love and passion for fitness began at a young age. As long as I can remember I was always playing a sport. Whether soccer or gymnastics or softball, my parents kept me active and encouraged a mindset of fitness as an outlet, which continues to this day. This drive for fitness and endurance sports morphed its way into marathon running and triathlons.
After college I decided to become a certified fitness instructor because I love sharing my passion and helping motivate others to do their best. I have over 15 years of experience instructing fitness classes and current certifications in group fitness, cycling, kickboxing, BOSU, Zumba, and Personal Training. I firmly believe that the key to fitness is to love whatever activity you are doing, because if you love it you will be more motivated and consistent. Also making sure you have a workout buddy to encourage accountability is a great help!
Hi! Im Madi, and I am excited to be on the staff at Modern Play.
I have done gymnastics for 18 years and coached for 6 years. From age 2 to 14, I trained at a competitive power gym in Kentucky and competed gymnastics through level 8. In High school I was part of an acro-cheer team. I went on to do the same at Southern Adventist University, where I performed with the Gym-Masters across the U.S.
I loved performing at festivals and even performed at NBA halftime shows! I can not wait to help grow our new gym family!

She did all star cheerleading for six years and worked at her childhood gym throughout high school.
A cofounder of the University of Tennessee co-ed gymnastics club, Katie acted as President and coach for girls of varying skill levels. Upon graduating college she coached gymnastics in Winston-Salem, NC.
Leadership and athletics have always been a core part of who she is. She has spent the last 5 years completing her MED in School Counseling at UTC, and has had three wonderful babies! Katie is passionate about teaching gymnastics, body strength and balance. Some of her hobbies include blogging, crafting, running and yoga. She desires for others to find joy and growth in exercise just as she does!
Amy took her first class in 2008 at the prompting of her best friend. Having no prior experience or desire for yoga, she fell in love with the practice in the first session. Though on and off the mat for the next few years, she returned wholeheartedly in 2013, seeking a regular practice along with yoga therapy for a low back issue.
Graduating in 2015 with a 200 hr YA certification, Amy’s journey and yoga style has changed and evolved. Her desire is to share yoga with everyone who desires to learn in a gentle, grounded and heartfelt way.
Amy is passionate about sharing yoga with beginners and creating an environment of safety for any yogi. When not teaching or practicing, Amy enjoys travel, anything outdoors and being a mom to her two teen daughters.
Hello, my name is Maya Pastusic and I am originally from Sarasota, Florida where I began dancing all genres of dance starting at the age of 3. While living here, I danced with Attitudes in Dance and Dance Extreme. Following that, I moved to Nashville where I continued my dance career at DC Dance Factory. When I first moved to Chattanooga, I danced at Scenic City Dance Center and then began to dance under Amanda Heymann Greager, former back up dancer for Pitbull and Flo Rida, at Creative Dance Project in Georgia.
I am also a current member of the modern dance company, Terpsichord, at Girls Preparatory School.
I am thrilled to be a part of the Modern Play team and really enjoy teaching younger children how to explore different types of movement and the basics of Ballet!

Hello, it’s Paige! I am recent transplant from the Nashville and am excited to be a part of the Modern Play team as your Barre-Tender and Bungee Fit Coach! I am a Health Coach and Group Fitness Instructor as well as a homeschool mom. My passion for group fitness began just 3 years ago, born out of my own struggle with weight loss. Just over 4 years I was 100 pounds overweight and barely able to walk. I knew I had to make some changes, so I focused on my nutrition while practicing very basic yoga moves. As the weight dropped, my ability to move increased. This led me to my love of group fitness and my new life’s passion as a Health and Wellness Coach. To date I have lost 102 pounds! am in the best physical shape of my entire adult life and for the past 3 years I have successfully coached so many others find their own success. I truly believe that whatever you can conceive, you can achieve!
